One person has died after a car crash in the early hours of December 31 in Aberdeen city centre.
Emergency services were called to Wapping Street at its junction with Denburn Road shortly before 1am, following reports of single vehicle collision. Tragically the driver could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene, reports Aberdeen Live.
Police cordoned off the street while the vehicle was removed and investigations were carried out; images from the scene showed officers looking at debris while the red Ford Fiesta hatchback was loaded onto a flatbed lorry to be taken away. The closure lasted for approximately 10 hours but the road has now re-opened.
However, police in Aberdeen are still appealing for information linked to the crash, including eyewitness statements and CCTV footage. They have asked anyone who may be able to assist to get in touch.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.50am on Saturday 31 December 2022, officers attended a report of a one vehicle crash involving a red Ford Fiesta on Wapping Street, Aberdeen at its junction with Denburn Road.
