One Covid symptom is 'curiously' affecting mainly vaccinated people

The public is being warned of the likelihood of catching Covid this winter, even if you have received your vaccines.

While vaccinated people tend to experience milder bouts of the well-known signs, the latest research available shows one symptom which seems to specifically target those with their immunisation.

While the jab is very effective at reducing your risk of serious illness, hospitalisation, and death, it does not guarantee you’ll avoid catching the virus altogether.

According to The Zoe Covid Study App, sternutation is “more likely” to affect vaccinated patients.

Sternutation, better known as sneezing, describes a sudden and involuntary expulsion of air from your nose and mouth.

The study states: “Curiously, we noticed that people who had been vaccinated and then tested positive for Covid-19 were more likely to report sneezing as a symptom compared with those without a jab.

“If you’ve been vaccinated and start sneezing a lot without an explanation, you should get a Covid test, especially if you are living or working around people who are at greater risk from the disease.”

The app’s data reports that sneezing affected 68 percent of its users, making it one of the key symptoms.

The study app stresses that this sign only seems to target those with the vaccines, meaning that unvaccinated patients who sneeze are probably hit by a different condition.

From flu to cold, there are various health problems that could also spur on sneezing so this sign alone doesn’t guarantee you have Covid.

“It’s important to remember that the link between sneezing and Covid-19 isn’t very strong so you should stay alert to the other symptoms,” the study app writes.

Fortunately, there are other coronavirus signs that could help identify the virus, including:

  • High temperature or shivering (chills)
  • Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
  • Shortness of breath
  • Feeling tired or exhausted
  • Aching body
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Blocked or runny nose
  • Loss of appetite
  • Diarrhoea
  • Feeling sick or being sick
