One casualty has been taken to hospital following a four-vehicle crash in Gateshead.
Four vehicles collided on the A694 between Winlaton Mill and Rowlands Gill on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred just before 11.30am near Thornley Woodlands Centre.
One person was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the town for further treatment. Police said the injuries sustained were not thought to be serious.

The road was closed in both directions for more than two hours while the emergency services dealt with the collision and cleared the road. It reopened to the public just before 2pm.
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said: "We received a call at 11.29am this morning to reports of a four-vehicle road traffic incident on Thornley Lane, Rowlands Gill. We dispatched one specialist paramedic and took one patient to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment."
Earlier this afternoon, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 11.30am today (Wednesday), we received a report of four vehicle collision on the A694 near Thornley Woodlands Centre. Emergency services remain at the scene but injuries are not thought to be serious."
