A weather expert has identified one section of the country that could be met with thundery rainfall at the end of the mini-heatwave.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said the latest weather models show a risk of thundery showers around the end of the coming week and next weekend, as the high pressure loosens its grip on the country.
Ireland has been basking in temperatures of up to 25C on the west coast and 20C in the east, in what has been described as a two week mini-heatwave.

Mr O'Reilly has indicated that the possibility of thundery-rain could bear down on one area of the country due to incoming low pressure, however it is only a possibility and might well "hold off."
He said: "Very uncertain yet whether the low pressure will make an impact and rainfall could be restricted to Southwest. Will be interesting to follow."
This week, Met Éireann published a week by week breakdown for weather in June, with the high pressure, brining with it sunny skies, due to end between Monday June 12 and Sunday June 18, however, Ireland will still have "above average temperatures."
Week three (June 19 - June 25) will see lower pressure and the potential for rainfall across the country, however temperatures will still be slightly above average.
"There is the potential in this scenario for some thundery falls of rain with the flow predominantly from the southeast with the added potential for some surface water flooding exacerbated by any heavier falls of rain on the dry pan generated from the drought conditions," it warns.
