A once popular Swansea pub found with a cannabis factory growing inside after being left empty and disused has gone up for sale.
In September, 2020, police officers discovered more than 100 cannabis plants inside the former New Colliers Arms, which has been empty for around eight years. And, back in June, 2020, we reported how a pre-planning application had been submitted to Swansea Council by a Lincolnshire-based applicant asking for permission to transform the old pub and function suite into seven flats. But the authority indicated it would not support the transformation of the building into residential use, as the site lies on a flood zone.
But last month, Swansea Council gave the green light to plans for the old pub at 31 Hebron Road, Clydach, to be transformed into two three-bedroom houses. Planning documents submitted on behalf of Lincoln-based applicant Millar and Behave Developments Ltd read: "The proposal is to bring back into use the former public house known as Colliers Arms which has been vacant and in physical decline for a number of years. "Recently there have been squatters and a large batch of plants were found growing at attic level intended for drug use. The proposal aims to bring back the building into use as two residential properties that will ensure the future preservation of the historic building and its contribution to the character of Clydach."

The building is now being advertised as up for sale via auction by Dawsons for a guide price of £99,950. A description reads: "We are pleased to offer this fantastic investment/development opportunity, for sale under auction conditions. The property was previously used as a public house. It now has planning to be split into two, modern three bedroom town houses. The property is located in the heart of Clydach and benefits from being close to local schools, amenities and a short drive from the M4." You can read more stories about Clydach here.
