Two convicted killers on the run from jail in Northern Ireland have been caught, the PSNI convicted today.
Alison McDonagh and Stephen McParland, had been at the centre of a major police hunt after absconding during temporary release from prison. They were last seen at a train station which operates a service to Dublin, sparking a nationwide alert.
However police north of the border confirmed today the duo had been apprehended in Newry this afternoon, reports Belfast Live. The PSNI said in a brief statement: “Unlawfully at large prisoners, 49-year-old Alison McDonagh and 54-year-old Stephen McParland have been arrested in the Newry area this afternoon, Thursday 26th January.

"They will now be returned to the custody of Northern Ireland Prison Service. We would like to thank the public for their assistance.”
McDonagh and McPartland are both serving sentences for murder. In 2006, Alison Michelle Martin - as she was then known - was jailed for the murder of George McDowell two years earlier. McParland kicked and punched his drinking mate Gary McKimm to death in 1997 over a £20 loan and was jailed for life for murder in 2008.
The pair were seen at Lanyon Place train station in Belfast on Saturday, January 21 at around 1.45pm.
