On the Boston Celtics parting ways with Grant Williams

As the Boston Celtics rework their roster in the NBA’s 2023 offseason, the storied ball club made the tough decision to move on from restricted free agent forward Grant Williams in exchange for a pair of second-round draft picks and a traded player exception (TPE) of about $6.2 million.

In a three-team sign and trade, the Celtics dealt the Charlotte native to the Dallas Mavericks while the San Antonio Spurs absorbed the contract of veteran wing Reggie Bullock. Williams will sign a new contract for four years and $53 million.
