The Boston Celtics lost a close game to the Indiana Pacers at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse on Monday night, with a controversial pair of calls late in the contest casting a pall over the results. The Celtics fell 133-131 to the Pacers after a foul call in the game’s final seconds was reversed to the consternation of many.
But much of the blame of the loss should be put on Boston’s roster, who took their foot off the gas on the defensive end of the court in the tilt’s third quarter. It may be that seeing Indiana star point guard Tyrese Halliburton go down injured in the second quarter made the Celtics think they had the game in the bag, but it doesn’t diminish the controversy from the eyes of many fans.
The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast shared their thoughts on the loss and the officiating on a recent episode.
