On the Beach launches 'big kids go free' package for older children who still live at home

Holiday company On the Beach has launched a new kids go free package no matter what the age of your children.

The travel specialist has created the ‘Big Kids Go Free’ package in response to the rise of ‘boomerang children’ – those aged between 20 and 34 who still live with their parents.

The new deal for 2023, comes with no age limit, and is available on two exclusive holidays, saving customers up to £1,000.

It means families with grown-up children in their 30s, 40s, 50s, even 60s, can take their offspring away at no extra charge.

According to ONS data, more than 3.6 million people, or 28% of the 20 to 34 age group, currently live with their parents. Yet, the majority of child-free places offered by holiday companies have upper age restrictions of 17 or even younger in some cases.

The exclusive holidays are available for breaks to the Labranda Mares Marmaris in Dalaman, Turkey and the Aquaworld Belek in Antalya, Turkey.

Customers booking a holiday for two adults for stays in April, May or August will qualify for a third adult completely free, with flights included.

Zoe Harris, chief consumer officer at On the Beach, said: “We’ve witnessed a sizeable shift in interest for family holidays across the travel industry recently, but what we’ve noticed is that it’s not just children who are travelling with their parents on holiday, it’s big kids too.

“Other travel companies offer kids go free options, but only up to the age of 17 for most. Our data suggests adults are going away with their parents, not only does the package encourage adult children to spend more time with their parents, but it celebrates the importance of family time at every age. Because after all, we never stop being someone’s child.”

Enquiries for family holidays have skyrocketed over the past 12 months, rising by 50% according to Google Trends, while online hunting for kids go free deals has surged 30% year on year.

On the Beach has witnessed an overall 27% increase based on booking data from 2019 to 2022. And interest in Turkey as a family holiday destination has also risen significantly, with searches rising by 217%.

In January alone there was a surge in bookings for Turkey, which is seen as one of the more affordable options for families.

On The Beach has also announced that free fast track airport security and free airport lounge access on summer 2023 package holidays is back.

To qualify for free fast track security booking, package holidays must include flights and accommodation and must be between May 1 and October 31 this year. To qualify for free airport lounge access, all bookings must be four and five-star package holidays for at least a seven-night stay.
