The first ever winter World Cup is set to get under way in November as Qatar 2022 hurtles down the track.
A host of Premier League stars will jet off to Qatar to compete for football's biggest prize with a number of Newcastle United players in World Cup contention for their respective nations.

Bruno Guimaraes
Imagine if a year ago you'd have told someone that Newcastle United would have a Brazilian midfielder not named Joelinton going to the World Cup? You would definitely have gotten some funny looks.
However, Bruno Guimaraes will almost certainly be on the plane to Qatar 2022 with Brazil in November.
The 24-year-old has made eight appearances so far for Brazil, most of which have been in 2022. While he isn't necessarily guaranteed to start, Newcastle fans will be keeping a keen eye out for Guimaraes at the World Cup in November.

Fabian Schar
Swiss international Fabian Schar will be at Qatar 2022 barring injury. The Newcastle United defender is a key player for Switzerland and has made 71 appearances for his country since his debut back in 2013.

Joelinton
While he has yet to win a cap for Brazil, there's every reason to believe Joelinton could be a late bolter if he carries his 2021/22 form into next season.

Reborn as a box to box midfielder, Joelinton produced a number of magnificent displays for Newcastle last season.
It seems unlikely he'll make Brazil's November squad, but it also seemed unlikely he'd turn into a key player for Newcastle under Eddie Howe. Stranger things have happened!

Allan Saint-Maximin
Mercurial winger Allan Saint-Maximin is unlikely to make France's World Cup squad. While the 25-year-old is unplayable on his day, it's not as if France need him.
Kylian Mbappe, Kingsley Coman, Antoine Griezmann, Moussa Diaby and Ousmane Dembele are all ahead of Saint-Maximin in the national team pecking order.
Barring an incredible run of form which could see him become a late bolter, Saint-Maximin will likely remain on Tyneside for the World Cup.

Callum Wilson
Newcastle's attack looked transformed upon Callum Wilson's return to the Magpies starting XI. Against Arsenal and Burnley in Newcastle's final two Premier League games, the striker was at his best, scoring a brace against the latter.
He was previously capped by Gareth Southgate back in 2018 and has made four appearances for England to date. If he hits the ground running next season, he could be in contention.
However, injuries have always hindered Wilson. While he is an excellent striker, there are plenty of others ahead of him in the pecking order.

Kieran Trippier
Kieran Trippier, barring injury, will be on the plane to Qatar 2022. Gareth Southgate rates Trippier's versatility as well as his leadership within the England camp.
He can play right-back, right wing-back and cover left-back too. Bar injury and a massive downturn in form, it seems highly unlikely that Trippier will miss out on the World Cup.

Chris Wood
Chris Wood and New Zealand have to play Costa Rica in a World Cup play-off final for the last spot at Qatar 2022.
If New Zealand win, Wood will be at Qatar 2022.
