Omid Scobie has appeared on This Morning giving the latest insights into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, having long been connected to the pair as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's biographer.
The 41-year-old journalist and Royal enthusiast joined Holly and Phil on Wednesday, where he discussed the upcoming King's Coronation at Westminster Abbey which will take place this Saturday and will see Charles officially crowned as monarch.
Omid co-wrote the book Finding Freedom about Harry and Meghan and he continues to give his insight on the ex-working Royals. During his appearance on the ITV show, he hinted at the real reason Meghan won't be attending the historical event.
Despite the obvious factor that the landmark day also falls on her and Harry's son Archie's fourth birthday, Omid says he "disagrees" with that being the prime reason the Duchess won't be attending before going on to explain she is avoiding the event to "protect her peace."
"People around the Sussexes said this was very much about Archie's fourth birthday. I disagree with that to some extent," he said.
"I also know friends who've said that she's protecting her peace as well. She's aware of how much of the spotlight goes on her when she even sets a foot in."
According to Omid, Meghan also made the decision to skip the event because “she is aware just how much of the spotlight goes on her when she sets even a foot near the story”.
He said: “It’s portrayed as intentional. Should she come over and just stand next to her husband, the commentary and the narrative of the day would have been very different.”
This is echoed by the Telegraph, which says the reason why the Duchess is not attending is that the Sussexes were “aware that Meghan’s presence at the coronation could have proved controversial and was keen to avoid attracting negative attention”.
“Friends have said she sees her life and her future base in the US and that public events in Britain have waned in importance," the publication also reported.
Prince Harry is expected to make a brief return to UK soil for the historical crowning of his father on May 6, whilst his wife Meghan stays at their family home in the US with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Meanwhile, ITV viewers were surprised to find out Omid Scobie's apparent 'real age' according to Google as he looks much younger. Omid has had a successful career with his Royal work having been named as a New York times bestselling author.
Omid is also executive Royal Editor for Yahoo News and an ABC and Good Morning America contributor, having previously been hailed as the ex-working royals "biggest cheerleader" says News AU.
