Olympics 2024: Team GB recover in men's four to win bronze as rowing medals keep coming

Team GB won bronze in the men's four at the Paris Olympics.

The quartet of Oli Wilkes, David Ambler, Matt Aldridge and Freddie Davidson got off to a poor start but produced a patient race, coming right through most of the field.

The British crew swept past Italy 800 metres from home into third place, eventually settling for bronze with the United States taking gold and New Zealand silver.

Earlier, it proved a morning of two mums at the rowing, one delighted and one disappointed.

Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne had not been expected to win a medal but took bronze with Becky Wilde in the double sculls.

It was an impressive outcome bearing in mind Wilde had undergone surgery on both forearms back in September and getting to Paris in itself had been seen by the duo as a victory of sorts.

And then Helen Glover, unbeaten this year in the four, was surprisingly pipped to the gold. But it's a strong morning for GB with one silver and two bronze.
