Olympics 2024: Team GB bring in chef after food complaints

Team GB athletes have complained about the state of the food on offer at the Olympic village which Games organisers had previously boasted would be of Michelin-starred quality.

Complaints have been lodged about a shortage of some food while there have been occasions of raw meat being served to athletes.

As a result, Team GB are now bringing in another chef to boost catering back-up at their performance lodge in Paris where a number of athletes are choosing to eat having foregone the offerings in the village.

Team GB’s chief executive Andy Anson said: “At the beginning of every Games there’s usually two or three issues. The big one this time is the food in the village, which is not adequate.

“There are not enough of certain foods: eggs, chicken, certain carbohydrates and then there is the quality of the food, with raw meat being served to athletes. They have got to improve it over the next couple of days dramatically.

“Our athletes have decided they would rather go and eat in our performance lodge in Clichy so we are having to get another chef to come over as the demand is far exceeding what we thought it would be.”
