Olympics LIVE!

Day 13 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games got underway this morning with Team GB attention turning to Katarina Johnson-Thompson’s bid to finally win an Olympic heptathlon medal. The two-day event began with the 100m hurdles and the high jump, with two-time world champion Johnson-Thompson leading favourite Nafi Thia ahead of the second and final day on Friday.

Team GB’s first medal of the day is a gold one, after Ellie Aldridge took victory in the women's kite sailing final. Jack Laugher struggled in the the men’s 3m springboard final, a disastrous early dive meant he finished seventh. Emma Finucane the claimed bronze in the keirin. There will be no gold for Jade Jones as she suffered a shock opening defeat to end her hopes of a third Olympic taekwondo title. Bradly Sinden has also missed out on gold and was later ruled out of his bronze medal match due to injury.

Later on at the Stade de France, the men’s 200m final headlines the athletics schedule as Noah Lyles bid to add to his 100m victory and secure a historic sprint double. The American lost out to Letsile Tebogo and claimed bronze, before it was revealed he in fact tested postive for Covid.
