An Olympic sprinter was hit with a stun gun and arrested during a heated altercation with Miami Beach police, according to a report.

Fred Kerley, a two-time medalist, earned global acclaim with a silver medal in the 100 meters at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and a bronze in the same race Paris in 2024, according to NBC News.

However, recent months have seen legal troubles overshadow his athletic achievements, as he faced charges of strong-arm robbery and domestic battery by strangulation, which were still pending at the time of his Miami arrest.

On Thursday, police encountered Kerley near an active investigation site in Miami Beach. The sprinter reportedly approached officers to discuss his nearby parked car, but according to police, his behavior grew increasingly combative.

When officers asked him to leave, Kerley allegedly refused, assumed a fighting stance and resisted arrest.

Body-camera footage shows the escalating interaction, culminating in officers deploying a dart-firing stun gun to subdue him.

Kerley now faces charges of battery, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.
