Aussie gold medalist Brianna Throssell has gone hyper-viral on TikTok after sharing the removal of her absolutely bonkers Olympic ring tattoo.
Tattoo fails will always be one of the best things to come out of TikTok. And it’s always funnier when it involves someone who has some kind of fame.
This time around, our botched tattoo story comes from Paris 2024 gold medalist Brianna Throssell, who decided to take her followers along to her first tattoo removal sesh.
However, before taking on the appointment, Throssell decided to share what the botched ink job looked like and how it came to that point.
“After the 2016 Olympics, I got my rings tattooed in colour on my wrist and um, I loved it at the time. I thought it was super super cool, but over time, the black ink ran and in the ring and yellow started to fade,” the Aussie Olympian began in her TikTok, which now has more than 418.2K views.
“So, after the Tokyo Olympics, I was like you know what I’ll get it covered over in black.”
The athlete went on to reveal that when she attempted to get it redone, the original tattoo parlour had shut down. So, when she finally got around to fixing it, the new artist who did the touch up refused to change the black ring but went over the four rings with the new ink, which led to this…
“This is my tattoo now,” Throssell shared before covering her mouth in shock.
The Olympic swimmer went on to describe the tattoo as “god awful” and “so ugly”.
“It’s wild how awful this tattoo is,” Throssell continued, revealing that she will be getting pico laser treatment.
“I am starting the process of getting it removed and I’m totally gonna take you along for the journey with me.”
After taking us through to her appointment, Throssell showed the aftermath of her first session, which she was impressed with.
“But how wild? The red circle, the black ink is totally gone from it! So strange,” Throssell shared.
“I just cannot believe the red circle that it’s red now. So strange. But yeah, anyway. Laser tattoo number one done. They think I probably need about eight sessions and I’m crossing my fingers that it completely goes and then I’ll get it redone at the same spot at a very good tattoo parlour/salon.
“If this is a lesson for anyone learn to do your research before choosing your tattoo artist.”
After posting the video, folks flocked to the comment section with their two cents on the tattoo fail. One person also suggested to the athlete that she pick a different spot for her future Olympic rings tattoo to avoid it fading quicker like her OG piece.
“Looks like it was drawn on,” one commenter joked.
“Girl what did they do to you,” another TikToker wrote.
“Looks better after the laser removal,” wrote a third.
Look, I’ve seen my fair share of cooked tattoos, but honestly, this one isn’t as bad as some of the other shockers on TikTok.
Remember the Ariana Grande hand tattoo fiasco? Now that’s a doozy!
