Olympic Gold Medalist Adam Peaty Tests Positive For Covid

Team GB announced on Monday that three-time Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty has tested positive for Covid. The 29-year-old swimmer began feeling unwell before his men’s 100m breaststroke final on Sunday. His symptoms worsened in the hours leading up to the race, where he finished just 0.02 seconds behind the race-winner Nicolo Martinenghi of Italy, securing a silver medal.

In a statement released by Team GB, it was mentioned that Peaty is hopeful to return to competition for the relay events later in the swimming programme. The team assured that all necessary precautions are being taken to manage his illness and to ensure the health of the wider delegation.

With the silver medal from Sunday's race, Peaty's total count of Olympic medals now stands at six, including three golds and three silvers. Despite this setback, Peaty remains a formidable force in the world of swimming and has shown remarkable resilience throughout his career.
