NEW DELHI: ENGN-backed Olympian swimmer Maana Patel has won two silver medals at the 53rd Singapore National age group championship in the senior category. The championship took place between March 14 and 19 in Singapore at OCBC Aquatic Centre. She won a silver medal each in both the 50 and 100 meter backstroke events, clocking a time of 29.86 secs and 1:04.26 min.
Commenting on yet another win, Maana said, “Participating in international competitions is an important part of my growth as an athlete. It helps me understand my competition, my improvement areas and my strong suits as well. Singapore is a place that has always been close to my heart. I enjoy racing here because I am competing with some of the best swimmers in Asia.”
Maana recently won four gold and two bronze at the 75th senior national aquatic championships that was held in September 2022 in Guwahati. She also won the best female swimmer of the tournament.
Maana is an international swimmer specializing in backstroke. She is the first Indian female swimmer to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. She is also the current 100 metre backstroke national record holder. Her goal is a podium finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
