Olly Murs has praised his fiancée Amelia Tank after she nursed him back to health following a knee injury which could have destroyed his career and took a toll on his mental health.
The singer, 38, was forced to have surgery which left him unable to walk for 12 weeks following a nasty accident on stage.
He was rushed to hospital in February where it was discovered that he had wedged a fragment of bone into the back of his knee.
Olly's operation replaced the torn ligament in his knee, but the recovery time left him feeling very negative about his career.
He told OK!: “I couldn’t walk. For 12 weeks I was sat in a chair staring at four f***ing walls with crutches and Amelia having to help me to the toilet and get me in the shower.
“I wasn’t in a good place. I had a lot of negativity about my career and whether I’d be able to get back dancing or performing again. [Ahead of] getting engaged, I trained for 12 weeks to get up that cliff.
"Amelia was like, ‘Why are you training so hard?’ and I was thinking, ‘Because I’m going to propose!’ I managed it up the cliff and got down on one knee, but getting up was horrible. Amelia had to help me.”
The X Factor star joked it was "slightly embarrassing" when his wife-to-be had to help pull him up after she said yes.
He said 80 per cent of the time he was plagued by worried of whether he would ever get better and often questioned whether he would dance again.
His devoted girlfriend even got him on a fitness and diet plan, which he said helped "everything fit into place".
His recovery means that he'll be able to effortlessly walk down the aisle when he marries Amelia next year.
The singer asked Amelia to marry him on top of a cliff in Cornwall, and he didn't tell anyone before popping the question.
Olly said he didn't even ask Amelia's dad for permission, but he said that it was the one thing in his life he was able to keep private.

Olly admitted that he was worried she would pop the question to him, so he asked her not to.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I always said to Amelia — because we watch all these dating shows, Love Is Blind, Married At First Sight, Love Island, Amelia is obsessed with them — that the only thing I ask is that I propose to you. I know what Amelia is like.
"She is quite impulsive. She would have just proposed to me otherwise."
