Olly Murs moved to tears during song at Manchester AO Arena gig as he remembers Caroline Flack

Olly Murs was moved to tears at his gig in Manchester as he emotionally reflected on his friendship with Caroline Flack.

The Troublemaker singer was performing an array of hits in the final show of his Marry Me tour at the AO Arena on Friday night (May 5) when he paid tribute to the TV star who died in February 2020, aged 40.

The pair were known for their on and off-screen friendship, having co-presented the Xtra Factor together before moving on to host the main show, the X Factor, in 2015.

In one emotional part of the show, Olly reflected on what had been a tough couple years for him, particularly with the tragic loss of Caroline, as he dedicated a breathtaking acoustic rendition of Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline to his late friend.

Looking up at the ceiling, he said: "This is for you Caz."

His voice cracked in parts of the song, as he choked on the lyrics and wiped away tears. Black and white pictures of the pair taken in once happy times flashed up on a screen behind him as fans in the crowd cheered him on in encouragement.

Olly also reflected on some of the memories he and Caroline shared together, including regularly travelling to Manchester when filming for the X Factor. "I miss her every single day," Murs told his fans.

He then encouraged all his fans to 'reach out' to anyone who is going through a hard time and to make sure they know someone is there for them.

In September, fans were in tears once more as Olly delivered a sweet tribute to his late friend on The Voice. And earlier this year Olly paid tribute to Caroline to mark the third anniversary of her death, saying he could 'still hear her laughter everyday'.

In an Instagram post he said: "Hardest day of the year 3 years of pain that never goes away but that smile and laughter I can still see and hear everyday! Miss ya Caz."
