Ollie Webber admits he wasn't aware of Glentoran's full-time status when initial interest was shown in the young goalkeeper.
The Glens announced Webber's signing on Thursday. He becomes Mick McDermott's seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
Webber played for the Oval club's academy before earning a move to Crystal Palace. He returns after spending the second half of last season with Portsmouth.

And the 22-year-old said it was a "no brainer" after discovering Glentoran were now a full-time club.
He told Glentoran 's YouTube channel: "When the initial interest came about, I wasn't aware that Glentoran was a full-time club and that it was all professional. Once I heard it was, it was a no-brainer for me to come back into professional football and come back to this club.
"I can't wait to work with Elliott (Morris). He has obviously had a hell of a career and he is a legend here. I look forward to working with him every day and just improving.
"I am coming here to push Aaron (McCarey) as much as I can and get as many games as I can. And obviously win as many trophies as I can and get a move back over to England again."
Webber joined Glentoran's Academy just after becoming a teenager and spent three years at the Oval before moving to Crystal Palace. He recalls being in a successful age group at the Glens, one that tasted silverware glory on numerous occasions.
And he hopes that can continue now he is in the senior squad.
"I am excited to be back. I obviously came through here when I was about 12 or 13 until I was 16 and then over to England to play," he said.
"So I am just looking forward to coming back. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to be back so I a excited to get going.
"My experience with the Glentoran Academy was really good. Our age group was really good.
"We won the league two or three years in a row so we were always winning trophies and it was an exciting time. I then went across the water and it was amazing.
"I came through here before going over to England and playing full-time over there and getting that experience. I was also at Portsmouth where I was in the first team and the number two there over five or six months was all good experience for me.
"It was all experience and learning, and I delighted to bring it back here to hopefully get games and push the club to were it should be, top of the league."
