Former Nottingham Forest forward Jason Cummings has received a hilarious response from Olivier Giroud, following his claims about the France striker.
Cummings, who made 17 appearances for Forest during the 2017-18 season, was named in Australia’s squad for the World Cup, despite previously making two appearances for Scotland. In a somewhat surprising turn of events, the Socceroos finished second in Group D behind France, qualifying for the round of 16.
Cummings made his World Cup bow as a substitute in their group game against Les Bleus, though not everything went to plan for the 27-year-old. After initially trying to swap shirts with Kylian Mbappe, Cummings turned his attention to Giroud, but claimed that the ex-Arsenal and Chelsea striker pretended not to understand him.

The Central Coast Mariners forward explained that he had first been knocked back for Mbappe’s shirt after waiting outside France's dressing room. “When I was walking back I saw Giroud, as handsome as ever, and asked him for it but he just walked past and pretended he never spoke English – he has been in the Premier League for about 10 years,” he said .
However, Giroud has laughed off suggestions that he ignored Cummings after the game. Instead, the veteran striker proved that he had already swapped his shirt with Cummings’ teammate Jackson Irvine, posting a picture of his shirt on social media with the message, “Hi @jacksonirvine how is my English mate?”, along with laughing emojis.
The ex-Forest forward may have only made one appearance during the World Cup but Cummings did also have advice for Lionel Messi ahead of the final. Posting a picture of himself talking to Messi after Australia’s clash with Argentina, Cummings wrote, "Do the basics right Leo. Don’t play the occasion, play the game. All the best, Cumdog."
