Olivier Awards 2022: How to watch, who are the nominees, when are the awards?

The glitz and glamour of London’s West End is set to congregate in Kensington for a night of celebration of theatre at the Laurence Olivier Awards.

Performers will join the likes of Judi Dench, Helen Mirren and Kenneth Branagh as the winners are announced by the Society of London Theatre in April.

Here’s all you need to know about the Olivier Awards 2022:

When are the Olivier Awards?

The ceremony takes place the evening of Sunday 10 April at Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets have been on sale since February alongside VIP packages here.

For each ticket purchased, one tree will be planted, as the Awards team up with the Priceless Planet Coalition.

How can I watch?

The awards will be streamed on YouTube on the Official London Theatre channel and highlights from the event will be broadcast on ITV.

The live event will also be covered by Magic Radio or Magic at the Musicals at 5:30pm on Sunday 10 April, with Ruthie Henshall and Alice Arnold.

Who will host and perform at the Olivier Awards?

Jason Manford will host the celebration of London’s dramatic talent.

The night will include live performances from new musicals Back To The Future: The Musical, The Drifters Girl, Frozen, Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical and Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

Who are the nominees?

Lily Allen in 2:22 debut and Cush Jumbo in Hamlet are both up for Best Actress alongside Beverley Knight, who stars in The Drifters Girl and Jessie Buckley in Cabaret.

Both Cabaret (which is up for 11 awards) and the musical Anything Goes (up for nine) are nominated for Best Revival, as is Spring Awakening.

Life of Pi gets a nod for plays and the seven actors who manoeuvre the puppet tiger have been nominated for best actor in a supporting role.

Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort of) has received three nominations: best entertainment or comedy play, and two best supporting actress chances.

The all-female retelling of Jane Austen’s classic novel first played in Glasgow and faced glowing reviews – but was forced to close in January due to Covid restrictions - along with many other West End shows.
