Olivia Wilde enters her single girl era in couture lace ‘naked dress’

Olivia Wilde has officially entered her single era – and so far we have no notes.

Last night the actress, who in November announced she and Harry Styles were going on a “break” due to conflicting schedules, stepped out in transparent lace glory for the People's Choice Awards.

At the event in Santa Monica, California, the director collected the drama movie of 2022 award for her film Don't Worry Darling, which starred Harry Styles, Florence Pugh and a gaggle of other A-listers. This comes with comic irony, as between Wilde and Styles hooking up, rumours of feuds on set, and – brace – spit-gate (when the film’s pop-star protagonist appeared to hurl phlegm on to Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival. Spoiler: he didn’t), it has honestly earned the prize for drama movie of the decade.

Now the dust has settled, Pugh is promoting her new film and Styles is heading off on a world tour. But a wallflower Wilde is not. She worked the purple carpet in a frock well chosen from Dior’s Resort 2023 runway. The collection, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, was shown in Seville in June, and was inspired by female heroes and passionate flamenco dancers.

Wilde channelled this and some in the black “naked dress”, which had delicate spaghetti straps and cascaded down into a flounced, floor-length skirt. She went braless and added a thick leather buckle belt with mini Dior pouch, black hotpants and stilettos. You’ll struggle to find someone who doesn’t agree she was by far best dressed at the event, at which Heidi Klum appeared in green and cream and Shania Twain in a leopard-print hooded frock.

Her outfit comes after a string of post-breakup moments which includes wearing a Gucci nipple pasty on the cover of November’s Elle magazine.

Keep it wild, Olivia.
