Olivia Rodrigo might not be in charge of the Billboard 200 albums chart with her debut full-length Sour any longer, now that Taylor Swift has replaced her at No. 1 on that list, but the teen singer does hold on to her control of Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart for another week. The musician dominated the ranking of the most-streamed individual tracks on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music in the U.S. last frame, and she managed to keep control of the loftiest spaces for a second stint...and that helps her make history.
This week, Rodrigo occupies the top three spots on the Streaming Songs chart, just as she did last time around, and the order in which her tracks appear doesn’t change at all. New single “Good 4 U” is a non-mover at No. 1 for a third consecutive turn, former promotional cut “Deja Vu” keeps at No. 2 and “Traitor,” which hasn’t yet been promoted but which fans have identified as a tune that they love more than most, is steady at No. 3.
Last frame, Rodrigo became just the fifth musician and only the second woman to occupy the top three rungs all at once on the Streaming Songs chart, and by doing so again, she’s matched a feat that has only been accomplished by perhaps the most successful artist in the world right now.
According to Billboard, Drake is the only musician who has managed to fill the highest three spaces on the Streaming Songs chart in two separate weeks. Unlike Rodrigo, the Canadian musician did so in different years with a completely new slate of smashes. It was just a few months ago that the hip-hop titan became the first artist in U.S. history to accomplish this showing more than once.
When Sour first debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, it did so thanks in large part to a massive streaming sum, so it’s not surprising Rodrigo also ruled over the Streaming Songs chart as well. Just a few days ago, her name appeared in eight rungs inside the top 10, helping her beat Swift for the most simultaneous placements inside the area among women. Now, half of those cuts have fallen out of the region, while one has actually advanced. After starting at No. 9 last week, album cut “Favorite Crime” lifts to a new high of No. 6.
