The ‘Indian Way’ estate, where singer and actress Olivia Newton-John spent her final days with husband John Easterling, has hit the market with an asking price of $US8.965 million (AUD$13.57 million). Located in a private and serene enclave of the Santa Ynez Valley, the four-bedroom, four-bathroom home is one of the only properties with frontage along the Santa Ynez River.
John told People that he believed it was time for a new family to enjoy the 12-acre property, which, in addition to the main farmhouse, has a two-bedroom guest house, pool, barn, stable and even an arena. “Olivia and I made many wonderful memories at our home in Florida and the ranch in California,” he said. “I can see a new family having great nature adventures and relishing the life experience.
The ranch also holds many items that belonged to Olivia, who passed away in August 2022. John says some of these items will be kept by family, but everything else will be auctioned off. Part of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund.
“We’re making historical progress with the research on plant medicine and cancer. This was Olivia’s dream and I promised her I would follow this through,” John told People.
A source told Woman’s Day that Chloe was heartbroken at the impending sale, but said the decision was ultimately a financial one. “This is a money issue,” claims the source. “The maintenance on the estate and the annual tax bill is crazy.”
“To keep that ranch would have financially impacted all the good work being done by Olivia’s charities and foundations. They made a promise to her they’d keep saving lives,” said the source.
