Olivia Newton-John shared the pact she made with God while she was pregnant with her daughter Chloe in one of her final interviews.
The Grease icon died "peacefully" aged 73 at her ranch in Southern California on Monday morning, surrounded by family and friends.
An interview last year has resurfaced where Olivia spoke of her spirituality and how she turned to faith when she was at risk of losing her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, now 36, while she was pregnant in the eighties.
Speaking on Sarah Grynberg's A Life of Greatness podcast, Olivia said: "I remember when I was pregnant with Chloe, and I was close to losing her at one point.
'I went to bed and asked God to save her and if he did, I would say the Lord's Prayer every night for the rest of my life and so I have. I think prayer is very powerful."
While expecting Chloe in 1985, the late star was closely monitored by doctors because she was considered "an older mother" at 38 years old.
Thankfully, Chloe arrived safely in January 1986.
Elsewhere in the interview, Olivia spoke about contemplating death, while acknowledging it was difficult to do so because dying is "extremely personal".
"We all know we're going to die, but I think we spend our lives in denial", she said.
"It's extremely personal so it's hard to put into words. I feel that we are all one thing and I've had experiences with spirits and spirit life. I believe there is something that happens.
"I hope the energies of the people you love will be there. I think all the love will be there. I'm sort of looking forward to that, not now, but when it happens."
Chloe paid tribute to her mother with a selection of images on Instagram.
The first image shared by the star's daughter on Instagram was a black-and-white photo of a young Chloe kissing her mother on the face during a photo shoot.
She also included other images taken throughout her childhood - including a sweet beachside snap - alongside more recent pictures.
Olivia shared Chloe with ex-husband actor Matt Lattanzi, whom the late star married in 1984 and divorced amicably in 1995.
The actress previously revealed that before Chloe's birth, she suffered from multiple miscarriages that left her broken-hearted, reported Fabiosa.
Discussing her experience with pregnancy loss in her memoir, Olivia wrote: "Each time my heart was broken."
Olivia is best known for her starring role in the 1978 film Grease, in which she starred opposite John Travolta as Sandy.
Aside from her showbusiness career, the actress became became a prominent breast cancer campaigner.
