Olivia Munn was "nervous" about showing her scars from cancer treatment while filming 'Your Friends and Neighbours'.
The 44-year-old actress - who was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023 - shares several racy scenes with co-star Jon Hamm in the new Apple TV+ series, and while her scars weren't visible on the show, she was apprehensive about them on set.
She told Extra: "I was nervous because I have scars.
"I have scars from my double mastectomy. I have scars from lymph node dissection. I have scars from having an oophorectomy/hysterectomy.
"So like, it's not just like in one little spot here and there.
"And then I sat and I spoke with [showrunner] Jonathan Tropper about it, talked to Jon Hamm about it, our intimacy coordinator, and by talking it out, I realised that I was more insecure before I had the double mastectomy.”
Olivia "felt so protected" on set, and she's heaped praise on the way her concerns were handled.
She added: “I'm so proud of my body for getting me through this, and Jonathan Topper and Jon, they're wonderful people, like, really wonderful people, and there was a lot of empathy and compassion and I felt so protected and so seen and taken care of.”
Olivia was determined to make the scenes in 'Your Friends and Neighbours' as "realistic and believable' as possible.
She explained: "The dynamic between my character and Jon Hamm's character is a very sexual dynamic.
"That's what they are bonded by. That is what the basis of the relationship is.
"So it's really important that we are showing that, and I wanted to be realistic and believable and to leave, like, nothing hidden, in a way, and not feel like I'm hiding behind anything.”
And although her scars aren't visible in 'Your Friends and Neighbours', she did show them in her SKIMS campaign in order to help other people.
She said: "I don't feel insecure about my scars like that anymore.
"But it all happened just because of that one moment and that decision, and then the response I got from people.
"So, I'm healing and learning and accepting myself in real time every day.”
