Actress Olivia Munn recently shared her experience of undergoing a full hysterectomy in April as part of her battle against breast cancer. In an interview with Vogue, Munn disclosed that she opted for a hysterectomy, oophorectomy, and removal of her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries to halt estrogen production in her body, which fuels luminal B breast cancer growth. The decision was deemed necessary by her doctor to prevent cancer recurrence and allow her to prioritize her family.

This marked Munn's fifth surgery in her cancer journey, following a double mastectomy, lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, and nipple delay procedures. Prior to the hysterectomy, Munn had been using Lupron to suppress estrogen, but the drug's severe side effects left her bedridden, impacting her ability to be present for her son, Malcolm.

Munn also shared that she underwent egg retrieval for the third time, expressing a desire to expand her family with her partner, John Mulaney. The couple had deliberated on fertility options due to Munn's cancer diagnosis and the uncertainty of needing chemotherapy or radiation.

In March, Munn revealed her breast cancer diagnosis despite testing negative for the BRCA gene and receiving a clear mammogram. Subsequent tests showed luminal B cancer in both breasts, a fast-moving and aggressive form of the disease. Throughout her journey, Munn has expressed gratitude for the support of her loved ones, including Mulaney.

Munn's openness about her cancer battle and medical decisions serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by individuals navigating serious health conditions. Her story highlights the importance of personalized treatment plans and the impact of such decisions on family dynamics and future aspirations.
