Olivia Munn has opened up about baring her mastectomy scars for a new SKIMS campaign.

In March, the X-Men actress revealed in an Instagram post that she had undergone four operations, including a double mastectomy, after being diagnosed with cancer.Now, she’s partnering with the shapewear brand, founded by Kim Kardashian, to support the Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity, with 10% of each bra's retail sales going to the cause.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s Today Show, the 44-year-old admitted it was "really scary" to reveal her scars but hopes to inspire women to get tested.“When SKIMS approached me to do this campaign, it was just to do their shapewear and their new leggings, it wasn't about my scar at all,” she shared about her decision.

“But we were in the middle of the shoot, and we were changing an outfit that could see more of my scars, so the make-up artist was touching up my scars and then we got to the double mastectomy scars and they were just really hard to cover up.

“And I was just looking in the mirror and I just thought, 'I'm done being insecure about my scars' and so I went to the team of SKIMS, and I said, 'what do you think about showing my scars in this campaign?'”

She continued: “They were so amazing and thoughtful and wonderful, and we talked it out - and then we decided to do it and that's the result of it.”

Munn admitted she can “breathe a little bit more” after hiding her scars for so long and hopes other breast cancer patients and survivors can feel “a little better after seeing” her campaign.

“It was really scary, but I feel like it's something I've been hiding for a really long time now and it feels like I can breathe a little bit more,” she added.

“And knowing there's so many women who have these same scars as me and I know that so many of them feel the same way as I felt about them for so long and I hope that they see this SKIMS campaign.

“SKIMS is so iconic and associated with beauty and sex appeal and cancer doesn't really have that same connotations so I really hope other women who have gone through my same path feel a little better after seeing it.”
