Olivia Attwood speaks on I'm A Celebrity exit saying the 'truth' will come out

Olivia Attwood has spoken out following her shock exit from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after she spent just hours in the jungle.

ITV released a statement saying the medical team advised that it was not safe for Olivia to return to camp after she underwent precautionary medical checks. She was seen skydiving out of a helicopter on arrival, alongside fellow contestant, DJ Chris Moyles on Sunday night.

But viewers will miss out on seeing the former Love Island star, who was booked as one of the favourites to win, continue in the jungle. Now the 31-year-old star has broken her silence on her exit with a statement posted to her Instagram story which she is "heartbroken", the Daily Star reports.

The statement read: "To say Olivia is heartbroken would be an understatement, she's dreamed of doing I'm A Celeb for years, and was absolutely loving every second and throwing herself into jungle life feet first (just as we knew she would).

"However, for reasons before her control her journey has been cut short. Your support and kind words have meant the absolute world to her, now as much as always has. You will hear the truth from Olivia in due course and she will be back on your screens in the New Year."

A show spokesman said at the time Olivia had left as a precaution before medics advised it was not safe for her to return. They added that she had been "brilliant" and would be "very much missed".

A statement read: "As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.

"Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation. She has been absolutely brilliant and she'll be very much missed on the show."

Olivia's early exit means she's tied for the shortest stint in camp after EastEnders actress Elaine Lordan also withdrew after just 24 hours during the 2005 series when she fainted twice in one day.

It's a devastating blow to the popular series, which returned on Sunday night with two million more viewers than last year, after spending two years being filmed in Wales due to the Covid pandemic.

Olivia has previously confessed that she is left "constantly overwhelmed" by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and has taken medication for anxiety and depression. She previously told of her plans to cope with her ADHD in the jungle.

She told the MailOnline: "I’m hoping that the jungle will really suit me because the things that over stimulates me is too much blue light, phone, laptops, TV, caffeine, alcohol, too much sugar, all that stuff in our daily lives makes me a bit wild whereas there’s none of that in the jungle.

"I love nature and animals so I’m hoping it will have a nice effect on me. I don’t want to ram it down people’s throats. The awareness for ADHD is on the rise and there’s a lot of good conversation around mental health, ADHD and diversity in general."
