Olivia Attwood reveals how she'd have handled Matt Hancock on I'm A Celebrity

Olivia Attwood has revealed exactly how she would have handled Matt Hancock in the jungle had she met the disgraced MP.

The former Love Island star, 31, was forced to quit I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! before the former health secretary made his first appearance on the ITV show - leaving viewers gutted about the fact the MP had escaped a clash with the feisty star.

Speaking on her first TV interview early today, Olivia admitted she would have approached camping with Mr Hancock with 'a bit of humour', but pointed out his stint in the jungle isn't a laughing matter for many across the country.

The reality TV star recalled how thousands across the country couldn't say goodbye to their loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic, as Mr Hancock was breaching his own social distancing guidance thanks to his extramarital affair.

Prior to her appearance on This Morning today, one of the star's pals admitted Olivia would have 'gutted' Mr Hancock 'like a fish' had she spent time with him in the jungle.

Asked how she would have handled camping with the former health secretary, Olivia explained to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "You have to be careful.

"I would have done things with humour and given him a bit of stick."

She then went on to add how Mr Hancock's reality TV venture 'isn't funny' for many across the country, given his failings in government during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"If you've lost a relative it's not funny," Olivia declared when chatting on the This Morning sofa.

She recalled how many British people couldn't say goodbye to their loved ones while Mr Hancock was 'snogging the face off' one of his colleagues.

Mr Hancock - who receives a basic salary of £84,144 thanks to his role as a sitting MP - was forced to resign as health secretary in June 2021 after breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules by conducting an affair in his ministerial office with aide Gina Coladangelo while social distancing rules were in place.

Last year, former Downing Street chief adviser Dominic Cummings alleged, "tens of thousands of people died who didn't need to die" during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic due to what he claimed to be "criminal, disgraceful behaviour" within Downing Street under the supervision of Mr Hancock.

Since joining the likes of Chris Moyles and Boy George in the Australian jungle, Mr Hancock has been asking for forgiveness and sharing his side of the story.

Last week, the MP for West Suffolk claimed he didn't break any rules but rather 'made a mistake' and ignored his own guidance due to falling in love with a co-worker.

Mr Hancock played a prominent role in the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and branded anyone ignoring social distancing rules and restrictions as "very selfish" prior to being caught having an extra-marital affair.

Many have taken issue with the politician's decision to abandon his constituents for up to three weeks as he enjoys his reality TV venture, due to the fact he broke his own lockdown rules while millions across the country followed government guidance and cancelled life-changing events.

Like many brides-to-be across the country, Olivia was forced to alter her wedding day plans in 2020 thanks to lockdowns and restrictions regarding how many guests could be present to watch her tie the knot with footballer fiancé Bradley Dack.

The former I'm A Celebrity star and the Blackburn Rovers player got engaged in 2019 and had planned to marry the following year, prior to Covid-19 wrecking havoc across the world.

"Olivia would have gutted Hancock like a fish in the jungle," a pal of Olivia's was overheard saying at a recent event – adding how the reality TV star had already spent thousands of pounds on her special day before having to cancel it in 2020.

*This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVHub
