Oliver Abildgaard talks up Celtic culture as new recruit continues search for first start

Oliver Abildgaard has hailed the 'culture' at Celtic as the new Parkhead recruit shares the excitement that has followed his transfer.

The midfielder made the move the Glasgow's east end in the closing stages of this summer's window, arriving from Rubin Kazan after a relatively short stay at the Russian club. Boss Ange Postecoglou was keen to add an 'enforcer' type of player to his midfield, with Abildgaard fitting the bill for the Aussie as he made the 26-year-old his ninth new recruit of a busy summer window.

The Dane still awaits his first appearance for the Hoops, with his chances of game time significantly increasing over the past week as the Celtic injury concerns continue – Daizen Maeda, Sead Haksabanovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt are all uncertainties – ahead of the return of domestic football this weekend. However, the midfielder has already got a flavour for the Celtic 'culture', complimenting the club and fans ahead of the Premiership clash with Motherwell on Saturday.

Speaking on a Celtic Instagram post, Abildgaard said: “I’ve only heard good things about the fans and the culture of the club. It goes without saying how big the fanbase is and I’m just looking forward to being part of it.”

Abildgaard has been training at Lennoxtown as he looks to earn recognition from the Parkhead coaching staff. However, Postecoglou previously explained the midfielder still has a bit to go before he is fully match fit.
