Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey: Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Aston Villa

Arsenal have enjoyed an impressive start to the Premier League campaign this season, picking up four wins from four games. The Gunners are just one of three sides who are still unbeaten, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta will be looking to retain the north Londoners' perfect win rate as they welcome Aston Villa to the Emirates Stadium. But, while Arsenal may be in a rich vein of form, the wheels look to be falling off with a handful of significant injuries taking their toll.

So, with that being said, football.london takes a look at the latest injury updates and return dates within the Arsenal squad as Arteta prepares for clashes with Aston Villa and United.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Zinchenko had featured in every Premier League for the Gunners since he swapped the Etihad Stadium for the Emirates. However, he missed out on Arsenal's win over Fulham at the weekend due to injury.

football.London understand that the 25-year-old suffered a slight sprain to his left knee during Friday's afternoon training session. As a precaution, he was left out of the matchday squad against Fulham and will continue to be assessed.

Thomas Partey

Similarly to Zinchenko, Partey had featured in each of the north Londoners' opening Premier League fixtures of the new season but missed the clash with Fulham due to injury. While Arsenal may have signed Fabio Vieira this summer, the Gunners are yet to welcome a defensive midfielder to the club.

football.London understand that the Ghanaian has a tight right thigh from Friday afternoon's training session. Partey will continue to be assessed.

What Arteta has said: "I don't think so. We still have to make another scan, especially on Thomas, to see the length - similar area, hopefully not as bad."

Reiss Nelson

Nelson suffered an injury in training last week and is likely set for significant time on the treatment table, according to Arteta. The 22-year-old winger, whose last outing for Arsenal was a year ago against Brentford, remains the only absentee.

What Arteta has said: "Everybody has trained this week, and everybody is fine apart from Reiss, who you know has been injured for a few weeks now.

"He felt something in training, we scanned him, and the doctor came with bad news. It's a muscular injury; hopefully, he will be back soon. [We don't know how long for] yet. They need to do another test."
