Oleksandr Usyk sends Deontay Wilder message after Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua update

Following his win over Anthony Joshua last month, Oleksandr Usyk has revealed who he wants to be his next opponent as he eyes the winner of Robert Helenius versus Deontay Wilder for a fight in 2023.

The IBF, WBA, WBO and The Ring world heavyweight champion has made the statement in an exclusive interview with The Ring magazine. Usyk had been linked to a fight against Tyson Fury in what would be a unification bout, however, with the news that Fury is set to fight Anthony Joshua will have influenced Usyk's plans.

Usyk revealed that he felt the public were being deprived of the fight in the interview with the prestigious boxing magazine, in which he spoke through his manager. “I don’t have many feelings about (Fury and Joshua fighting). I don’t really care if Fury wants to fight somebody. My team is working on getting me back in the ring.

“And no, no, I’m not p****d off at all (about being bypassed by Fury for Joshua). The bigger problem is Tyson Fury is not letting fans see one of the best historical bouts in boxing history. That’s his fault. Not mine. So, I’m not pissed off at all. Tyson Fury can fight whoever he wants to fight.

Wilder has been out of action since his defeat in the final trilogy fight against Tyson Fury last October and will return to action in new York City against Robert Helenius. Helenius is ranked 2nd as a contender for Usyk's WBA belt. However, Usyk only has one major interest in that fight, answering definitively on who he wants to fight next.

“Deontay Wilder.” said Usyk. “Wilder is a dangerous fighter, and that fight would most likely be in the United States.”
