Before Lane Kiffin signed a contract extension with Ole Miss last year, he was briefly linked to the open Auburn job. In fact, Mississippi television reporter Jon Sokoloff at one point reported that Kiffin was definitely headed to Auburn to replace the fired Bryan Harsin.
Ever since that report was proven incorrect, Kiffin has gone out of his way to troll Sokoloff for getting it wrong. That continued on Friday, when Kiffin denied Sokoloff virtual access to the Ole Miss bandwagon ahead of the No. 15 Rebels’ game at No. 13 Alabama on Saturday.
“Jon trying to jump on [the] Ole Miss bus now,” Kiffin wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “No thanks.”

In the past, Kiffin’s trolling of Sokoloff included a simple “do your job” message and thanking Sokoloff for the inaccurate report.
“I appreciate Jon for all that chaos that he created with false information,” Kiffin told reporters in April. “But that allowed us to work through [an obstacle] and … help our [NIL] collective. So really our fans and our collective should thank Jon for that.”
It’s been almost a year since Sokoloff reported that Kiffin would be taking the Auburn job, but he clearly remains in Kiffin’s crosshairs.
