Old video shows Roy Keane savaging England team after World Cup exit

A video from 2010 showing Roy Keane savaging members of the English team has resurfaced.

While the Irishman may have been rooting for England during their 2-1 defeat to France in the World Cup quarter-finals last night, and even referred to them as 'we' on occasion, as this clip shows, he hasn't always been so kind to the English football team.

The video shows Keane in conversation with Sky Sports News. In the chat, Keane goes through almost the entirety of the English team that played in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and slams them for having poor seasons.

Keane blasts the English side, implies that they are overrated, and says that the team are not 'world class.'

"If you look at the goalkeepers, David James at Portsmouth, I don't think they've had a great season," begins Keane in typical scathing style, "The other keeper, (Rob) Green, West Ham just about stayed up.

"Glen Johnson at Liverpool done okay, Liverpool had a poor enough season. John Terry had his issues. Don't think he had a great season. As much as Chelsea won the double, that was down to the fact that they had some world class attacking players.

"(Matthew) Upson who played yesterday - West Ham didn't have a great season. Ashley Cole's only just come back from injury to be fair.

"(Steven) Gerrard didn't have a great season with Liverpool. Think (James) Milner had a good season. (Gareth) Barry, I thought was very average for Man City this year. (Emile) Heskey started the campaign up front, I think he had three goals for Villa last year.

"So, keep talking about having world class players but they're not."

The interview appears to have taken place the day after England crashed out of the 2010 World Cup. On that occasion, Fabio Capello's side were dumped out of the competition by Germany 4-1 in the round of 16.
