Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic showed Celtic is still on their mind despite departing during the winter window.
The two players were both signed up by Ange Postecoglou during his first summer at the club from VVV-Venlo and Legia Warsaw and quickly established themselves as key players as the Hoops went on to win a domestic double. They experienced Champions League group stage football before deciding to move on following 18 months in Glasgow with moves to Atlanta United and Union Berlin.
The former Celtic pair watched from afar as Jota's winner sparked wild celebrations at Hampden and edged the Scottish champions that huge step closer to a domestic Treble. The League Cup is already in the Parkhead trophy cabinet and it could be joined by the Premiership crown this weekend when they travel to face Hearts at Tynecastle. A return to Hampden next month to face Inverness is now in the diary and victory over the Championship side would deliver the famous old trophy - the one they missed last year.
Matt O'Riley took to social media as he joined the thousands of supporters in celebrating another Old Firm win in Mount Florida. He posted a picture up against John Lundstram with a simple three word caption of: "That was fun."
His two former Celtic colleagues were quick to jump in on the act with Juranovic posting a series of fire emojis while Giakoumakis took the same approach but with 'Oh my Treble' in front - a post that attracted over a 1000 likes on its own.
The likes of Christopher Jullien and Ben Doak joined the duo in liking O'Riley's upload in a night of celebration for Celtic.
Speaking after the game, Postecoglou said: “We’ve given ourselves a chance and a very good chance. I’m really proud of the whole group’s progress, it’s been remarkable the way they’ve embraced every challenge.
“It’s not easy meeting the expectations of this football club but from my perspective everything they’ve done to put us in this position has been outstanding.”
