Brave East Kilbride veterans and serving members of the armed forces were honoured as the town welcomed back Veterans' Day.
Dr Lisa Cameron MP hosted the Platinum Jubilee event with more than 100 veterans, family and friends in attendance at the Legion Scotland East Kilbride Branch.
This is the first time in three years the event has been held since the Covid outbreak.
Chair of Legion Scotland's EK branch, Bobby Russell, told Lanarkshire Live it was "brilliant" to get all the soldiers together again.
He said: "It was a great day from start to finish. We haven't done this in three years so everyone was so excited to get all the soldiers together again.
"Friendships were renewed and old jokes retold - it was a brilliant day."
The Last Post and a two-minute silence was held for all who have lost their lives serving in conflict before a Veteran's Badge was presented by the MP to East Kilbride’s John Ferguson.
There were also speeches by Deputy Lord Lieutenant David Russell on behalf of her Majesty the Queen, host Dr Lisa Cameron MP and Councillor Mark Horsham, South Lanarkshire Council's Veteran’s Champion.
Various dignitaries representing Armed Forces Services, Poppy Scotland, Lanarkshire Veteran’s First Point, Police Scotland and Scottish Fire & Rescue also addressed the crowd.
EK Sea Cadets were on hand to help out and entertainment came from East Kilbride Pipe Band and local band Contrast.
Lunch was organised by local charity Share Alike with thanks also going to Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Coca Cola, Glencairn Crystal and TUV SUD for sponsorship of the Jubilee Veterans' Day.
Dr Lisa Cameron MP said: "I was delighted to host this year's official Platinum Jubilee Veteran’s Day celebration in the East Kilbride Legion.
"It was fantastic to welcome back so many of our local veterans who attend the Legion and their families post-Covid. So many have been shielding and haven’t been attending events for such a long time.
"A special thank you goes to Bobby Russell at EK’s Legion Scotland for year round support of veterans across South Lanarkshire and to Anne Marie from EK’s Share Alike charity who organised the veterans' buffet lunch.
"It was a lovely day all round and we will continue to reach out to veterans and their families who need support and to build upon its’ success for future years."
