Oklahoma’s Brent Venables Trampled As Team Ran Out Through Smoke, Leading to Comical Pile-Up

No. 13 Oklahoma trampled over TCU on Friday night, stomping its way to a 69–45 victory to secure their 10th win of the season.

But before the Sooners could trample over the Horned Frogs, they unfortunately trampled over themselves.

As Oklahoma took the field before the game, they were welcomed with a smoke machine that might have been working a bit too hard. As the Sooners made their way out of the mist, someone tripped, causing a chain reaction that was as comical as it was dangerous.

Coming out of the smoke, you can see Sooner after Sooner stumble before eventually getting their feet back under them.

Coach Brent Venables was apparently one of the first people caught up in the fracas, and addressed the pile up after the game.

“That was embarrassing. I just fell," Venables said, per TJ Eckert of KTUL. "I didn’t think I was gonna die, but that kept crossing my mind. I kept getting shoved and shoved. 5,000lbs on top of me.”

Unsurprisingly, fans had plenty of fun with the moment.

That said, nearly as many fans were concerned for the safety of everyone involved.

The Sooners didn't seem too beat up by the incident, as they still put up 69 points on TCU in the game that followed.
