Oisin Smyth heads out on loan in bid for regular football

Oisin Smyth is hoping to get some regular football after completing a loan move to Solihull Moors.

The former Dungannon Swifts man has joined the National League side initially on a one-month loan deal from Oxford United.

As Belfast Live reported last month the 22-year-old was set to go out on loan after a frustrating period with injury with the U's following his move there last January.

Boss Karl Robinson said Smyth was "still in a development phase" and compared him to fellow former Irish League man Mark Sykes when he first made the move to Oxford from Glenavon.

The midfielder has only made two first team appearances for Robinson's side so far but he is hoping regular first team football under Neal Ardley at Damson Park will stand him in good stead.

"I'm really excited to be here and hopefully help the club progress," Smyth told the Solihull Moors website.

"The set-up here is of a Football League club so the aim is to get to that position.

"My aim is to get across that white line and help the team as much as I can."

Ardley is delighted to bring Smyth in and hailed his qualities.

"Oisin is a box-to-box midfielder with plenty of energy and he's technically very good," he said.

"We'll have him in initially for a month, hopefully he'll be able to grow and play a big part for us.

“Oisin has been highly recommended to us and we believe from what we've seen Oisin can really help us."
