Ohio woman who threw burrito bowl at Chipotle worker sentenced to work at fast-food job: 'This is not Real Housewives'

An Ohio woman whose assault on a Chipotle employee went viral earlier this year has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, along with two months working as a fast-food employee.

Videos of the incident show Rosemary Hayne becoming increasingly irate about her burrito bowl order before throwing the food into the face of the counter worker at the Mexican fast-casual restaurant. The sentence was handed down last week in a Parma, Ohio, court.

“You didn’t get your burrito bowl the way you like it and this is how you respond?” Parma Municipal Court Judge Timothy Gilligan said during sentencing. “This is not Real Housewives of Parma. This behavior is not acceptable… I bet you won’t be happy with the food you are going to get in the jail.”

Haynes was found guilty of one count of assault and was sentenced to 180 days in jail, but Gilligan suspended 90 of those. He then gave her the choice to spend the remaining 90 days in jail or work a fast-food job for jail credit. She will have to work at least 20 hours per week.

Judge Gilligan has seen these sorts of cases before, including someone who reached through a McDonald’s drive-thru window and began punching the employee because the customer didn’t get a cookie in their Happy Meal. And while Hayne was apologetic, the judge was skeptical of her sincerity, since even in court she was complaining about the food at Chipotle.

“She still has not picked up that this is not appropriate,” Gilligan told CNN.

Hayne has not yet found a job at a fast-food restaurant. Meanwhile, the worker she assaulted has since quit her job and now works elsewhere.
