Unfortunately for fans of mid-major college football programs, calculating a team’s national ranking isn’t quite as easy as 1+1=2. But one Ohio University fan did his best to make the pitch for the Bobcats to be considered among the nation’s best with an impressive seven-step breakdown.
It began with Ohio defeating Iowa State on Sept. 16, 10–7, followed by five other results in college football this season that culminated in the transitive property argument for why the Bobcats are superior to No. 8 ranked Alabama. A number of impressive Big 12 programs with significant wins—Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Oklahoma State—make appearances as well.

While it won’t be enough to persuade the higher powers in charge of handling the top 25 rankings, this is an impressive effort from top to bottom. The Bobcats are 8–3 this season with one game left in the regular season, a road matchup with Akron on Friday, Nov. 24.
