Ohio State women’s soccer bow out in 1-0 loss to Wake Forest

Ohio State soccer had a few NCAA Tournament games on Sunday. The men’s side took on and beat Western Michigan to advance while the women’s side lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Unfortunately, for the latter, their season is over, but there’s not much to hang their heads on as it was a very strong season. The Buckeyes had a record-setting year in Columbus despite the Sweet 16 loss to Wake Forest.

They fought in a gritty battle that ended 1-0 in favor of the higher seed.

“After opening the year with a win over Duke, the Buckeyes jumped into the rankings and spent the rest of the season in the Top 25, the longest single-season stretch in program history,” the Buckeyes game recap post said.

That’s impressive, and their record backed up that play, as they went 14-6-3 overall and 6-3-2 in conference play. Columbus was a fortress for the women’s soccer team this season with a 9-1-3 home record.

The Buckeyes beat James Madison 4-1 to open up NCAA Tournament play and then took down Auburn 2-1 before falling on the road to the Demon Deacons, who was playing in Winston-Salem, NC, where the Wake Forest is.
