Ohio State trending to land SEC transfer defensive tackle

It was not a surprise when Ole Miss transfer defensive tackle Tywone Malone decided to make a visit to Ohio State.

When there wasn’t much noise after his trip, it seemed like the Buckeyes were out of the race. Malone then went on to visit Miami, with many expecting him to make a verbal.

That didn’t happen either and now it seems like Malone is trending to join his former Rebels teammate Davison Igbinosun in Columbus. A 247Sports crystal ball projection was logged by Miami insider Gaby Urrutia for the defensive tackle to eventually commit to Ohio State.

Malone was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school, ranked as the 11th defensive lineman and 63rd overall prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He registered 13 tackles and 2 sacks in his two seasons with the Rebels.

Although Malone just posted yesterday that he had entered the portal, he officially submitted his paperwork almost 3 weeks ago. The reason why no announcement was made was that Malone was considering returning to play for Ole Miss.

The big defensive tackle also plays baseball, so if Malone does end up in Columbus, he will probably play on the diamond as well. He would be a welcome addition to a defensive line that could use some depth on the interior and for the baseball team that has struggled this season.
