Ohio State tight end enters transfer portal

News of players coming in and out of the transfer portal for Ohio State continues to be a thing during this whole College Football Playoff national title run. There have been more than a handful of players juggling their intentions with the timing of the portal, and the latest is tight end Patrick Gurd.

Out of the suburb of Columbus, New Albany, Gurd was a walk-on on at Ohio State but found his way into a contributing role, appearing in 13 games for the Buckeyes this season and even registered one catch for six yards against Western Michigan. He will have one year remaining because of the extra year offered to players because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

His loss is a hit to depth, but the Buckeyes still have plenty of options. Will Kacmarek, Jelani Thurman and Bennett Christian provide skill and depth options, and the addition of Purdue’s Max Klare through the transfer portal gives OSU a fantastic option heading into 2025.

We, of course, wish Gurd nothing but the best in finding a landing spot for his last season as a college athlete.
