It wasn’t a series win, but it sure was a nice way to end the weekend for the Ohio State softball team. The Buckeye ladies had dropped the first two of the series against TTUN and looked destined to get swept before some last inning heroics in the very late stages of the game.
Down 1-0 and down to its last out, Ohio State and Ashley Prange took a 2-1 pitch over the right field wall to tie the game up and send it into extra innings.
But there was more. In the top of the eighth, Morgan Ray set the Michigan side down in order to set the stage for the bottom of the inning.
With one out and runners on the corner, Brianna Betschel hit a two-strike slap to left field to bring home the winning run and give Michigan its first conference loss.
The win moved Ohio State’s record to 25-14 and its Big Ten record to 9-5. The Buckeyes are next in action at home against Ohio University on Tuesday.
