Ohio State softball adds Kelsey Stewart-Hunter to coaching staff

On Friday, the Ohio State softball program announced the addition of Kelsey Steward-Hunter to the coaching staff of head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly.

Stewart-Hunter is a two-time national champion with the University of Florida and was a part of the 2020 U.S. Olympic squad. She was the 2015 SEC Player of the Year. She played in 264 games during her Gators career.

She had a .391 career batting average with 357 hits, 259 runs scored, 113 stolen bases, and 148 RBI. She is still Florida’s all-time leader in hits, runs scored, total bases, batting average, stolen bases, and on-base percentage.

“We are thrilled to add Kelsey to the Buckeye staff,” said Schoenly in a statement. “Her knowledge from competing at the highest levels of our sport will be instrumental in our program taking the next step. She is a natural teacher who loves competition. I know she’ll thrive in this role.”

Pardon the pun, but this sounds like a home run hire for the Ohio State softball program.
