Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown announced that he would be entering the transfer portal earlier in December but would stay with the team until the playoff run was complete. Recently, rumors were running wild on social media that Brown had made his decision on a new home and would be heading to the West Coast to join the Cal Bears. However, Brown has come out and said there is no truth to those rumors.
The backup quarterback for the Buckeyes says he is focused on helping his current team win and go as far as they can in the College Football Playoff. Because he is staying with OSU for the playoff run, he hasn’t even had time to visit other schools at this time. A blind commitment seems like a longshot for both Brown and any school hoping to bring in a transfer.
Contrary to any reports, I haven’t committed to a school yet. I haven’t even visited a school. My focus is 100% on helping the Buckeyes win a national championship. Go Bucks!

In a world where reporters are eager to be the first to get breaking news out, it often happens that the breaking news isn’t accurate. That seems to be the case here. So much so that Brown himself had to address the rumors and rightfully so. If other teams think he’s already committed elsewhere, they may not feel as inclined to reach out.
It says a lot about Brown’s character and love of his teammates. He’s effectively putting his future on hold for the sake of others. Some college program is going to get an outstanding leader on and off the field. Ohio State fans will be proud to call Devin Brown a Buckeye for life.
