Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones has come off the board in the 2023 NFL draft. With the 111th pick, Jones was selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Jones was Ohio State’s “other” tackle, but he was accomplished and talented in his own right. At 6 feet, 8 inches and 350 pounds, Jones is a mountain of a tackle but very light on his feet. He was a two-sport standout athlete in high school; basketball was his other love at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Jones appeared in 41 games at Ohio State, including 27 as a starter. He played right guard in 2021 and moved to the right tackle spot last season. He earned first-team All-America honors in 2022 by CBSSports.com and
second-team all-Big Ten Conference honors by the league’s coaches.
His improvement since arriving on campus has been remarkable.
The upside for Jones is huge with the potential of turning into an All-Pro before his time is through in the NFL.
